What's a good place to advertise a good herding dog?
I've had border collies as farm dogs, and they do very well. They didn't go after the livestock... And border collies also do very well in the suburbs and/or city. I would know, because i've lived just about everywhere. They will need to be walked everyday.... and you said that the people who are interested in him will only walk him once a day? It would be more ideal to have more than one walk a day, but a really long walk once a day would be ok too... just as long as the dog gets enough exercise. If he has never been trained to herd... it would be up to the new owners to decide if they wanted him to be a herding dog, or if they wanted him as a family pet, because border collies are excellent family pets, herding or not. It seems like you really like this dog, and no one is up to your standards for him... why don't you adopt him...??? Also You could put an ad on petfinder.com; puppyfind.com; or in your local news paper.... and have interviews with the people who are interested in the dog. Good luck, and hope everything works out for the dog.. (:
